1. Subsidy support for holding conventions

Requirements
  1. The main venue is a facility in Tsukuba city.
  2. The holding period is more than 2 consecutive days. However, tour trips and sightseeing trips are not included.
  3. To have more than 200 participants in the case of a domestic conference, and more than 50 participants in the case of an international conference.
  4. To describe in the event’s program that the conference was done in cooperation with the Tsukuba Tourism Convention Association and Tsukuba City.
Application deadline
Please submit the necessary documents by the end of November of the preceding fiscal year of the convention date.

Calculation of Subsidy Amount

In case of international conference … Up to 2 million yen (if held another time, 2.5
Number of participants × 1,000 yen Maximum
¥ 1.5 million
If the following conditions are met, then their amount can be added to the amount mentioned above.
1. Number of guests staying in the city × 1,000 yen Upper limit
300,000 yen
2. Implementation of tour trips in the city (10% of eligible expenses) * Upper limit
100,000 yen
3. Implementation of meetings of exchange in the city (request) 10% of expenses used by city business operators) * Upper limit
100,000 yen
4. Held again within 2 fiscal years (100 people or more, but less than 499 people) 200,000 yen
5. Held again within 2 fiscal years (over 500 people) 500,000 yen

* Round down to less than 1,000 yen

For domestic conferences …Up to 1.5 million yen (1.8 million yen)

1. Support materials

We provide goods to support the participant’s convenience.

  • Convention bag (100 yen each)
  • Tourist brochures

* Convention bags can be paid off by the number of copies used.
* Application deadline: One month before the conference

2. Putting up welcome signboards

We will set up welcome boards at Tsukuba station and the Conference Venue

Installation location: 2 places, 20,000 yen

* Depending on other application conditions, it may not be possible to meet your request.
* Display period: From the day preceding the start date until the end date
* Application deadline: 2 months before the conference

3. Dispatch of convention volunteers

We will dispatch convention volunteers who will work as the main staff of the conference.

Conference support Will provide support to guests for registration, cloakroom, equipment operation and when executive support is needed
Language support When language support is needed at international conferences (We are registering many volunteers who are proficient in various languages, mainly English)
Introduction of Japanese culture When you want to experience aspects of Japanese culture such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement and traditional clothing
Tourism When you want to obtain tourist information about Tsukuba

* Dispatch Expenses: Reward 2,000 yen, lunch (bento box or 1,000 yen), parking lot fee (parking ticket), communication fee 3,000 yen
* Application deadline: 2 months before the conference

4. Arrangement of attractions, arrangements for sale of goods

We will arrange cultural exchange meetings where visitors will be able to see Tsukuba’s traditional arts such as the selling of Gama no Abura (Mount Tsukuba’s toad oil) and Taiko (Japanese drums) performances. In addition, we will also arrange booths of local products of Tsukuba.

* Attraction arrangement fee: reward and communication fee 2,000 yen
* Arrangement expenses for product sales: Communication fee 2,000 yen
* Application deadline: One month before the meeting
